Android VS IOS VS Windows Phone

An operating system is an interface of operation of the machine which can be anything like smartphones, tablets, laptops, and PCs. As for taking about smartphone operating systems, Android, IOS, and Windows are the top end operating systems worldwide.

All these operating systems have their proficiencies as compared to others.

Introduction

Android, a modified version of Linux kernel and open-source software is an operating system for devices like smartphones, tablets, and phablets.

The operating system mainly developed by Google, written in programming languages like Java, C, and C++ initially released on the 23rd of September 2008.  Android till today has been 10 major updates and the 11th is on the way.

Android 11 will release in the Q3 of 2020. The latest released Android, Android 10 also known as Android Q.

IOS, an operating system by the company named Apple Inc. This operating system is only for Apple products like iPhones, iPods, iPads, etc.

IOS, an operating system based on C, C++, Objective C, and swift assembly language. It initially released on the 29th of June 2007, for the first iPhone ever produced by Apple Inc. IOS, until today, had 13 major updates, IOS 1 to IOS 13.

The latest major update for the IOS 14 has been released in Beta version, yet a stable version is to be released in Q3 2020 with the latest model of iPhone series.

Windows Phone is an operating system developed by Microsoft for its exclusive windows phones. This operating system discontinued due to failure. It could not compete against its rivals Android and IOS.

Windows Phone OS, written in C and C++ language initially released in October 2010. The User-interface was inspired by Metro design language. The windows phone operating system ended with the update Windows 8.1 in 2015.

Windows Phone operating system operates on only Nokia phones. As Microsoft owns Nokia.

Android VS IOS VS Windows Phone

In comparison, all these operating systems have their advantages. Some main differences are below:

User Interface

All of the 3 operating systems have a perfect minimalistic, sleek, stylish looks, and bright colors. But, there are some differences in the operation of all 3. Personalization is different in all the 3 operating systems.

In Android and Windows phone OS, the user can hide the rarely-used apps in the drawer, while for the IOS everything is on the screen. IOS works on swipe gestures, so it has no navigation keys like Windows and Android OS.

Android is the most favourite operating system for a smartphone worldwide due to its personalization and easy customization. It is rare to see people using Windows Phone due to its complexities and not user-friendly interface.

Apps

Traditionally, IOS is the moneymaking operating system for developers. IOS does not allow any third-party app installation on any Apple device. It is due to the third-party apps that may or may not contain viruses so IOS, for security does not allow them.

IOS has its exclusive AppleStore through which you can download all the apps you want. AppleStore firstly checks app if it fulfils its requirement then publishes it own AppleStore.

While for the Android, it has Playstore which has security checking lesser than AppleStore because of that publishing apps on PlayStore is easier as compared to AppleStore.

Windows phone has its Microsoft store, which does not provide apps as half as Android and IOS.

Conclusion

The comparison is only between Android and IOS. Windows Phone operating system has lost this battle long ago. These operating systems are getting newer and newer updates for meeting today’s needs and giving each other a tough time.
